Over the course of the past two weeks, from November 20th, the beginning of Thanksgiving break, to December 4th, a week back into school, I have begun the process of reaching out the possible mentors. After evaluating all of my interviews, I chose one professional from the writing field and one professional from the medical field, specifically general pediatrics. Overall, I conducted interviews with Mrs. Carol Nuckols, Ms. JoAnn Livingston, Mrs. Raechel Bourque, Mrs. Kelly Mitchell, Mrs. Melanie Newberry, and Dr. Azra Jagani. After going over all of my interview notes and assessments, I have chosen to ask Professor Mitchell to be my mentor in the writing field and she officially confirmed that she was willing to help me. Dr. Azra Jagani is who I chose to ask in the medical field, but currently have not heard back from her. Over the course of the next week, I hope to finish the paperwork for the mentor process and set up a mentor schedule as well as begin my original work and fit in at least 12 hours of work before the start of winter break, which begins on December 15th. By reaching out to possible mentors, I have officially been able to properly begin to start on my original work, which is a major part of the research showcase.
