Weekly Blog #8: October 17-23rd

From October 16th to October 23rd, I have delved back into the research part of my assignment in order to gain more solid footing for when I continue more of my interviews. Over the past week in Independent Study and Mentorship, I have started looking at more articles about pediatrics to enable myself to draw more connections. My purpose is to gain a little bit more into the career field of my choice on a daily basis. I am looking for networking events so that I can talk to multiple professional at once. By doing this, I came across an article about a woman who started four different programs to allow for families to learn how to take care of children with cancer. Dr. Aziza Shad was named 2017 Daily Record Innovator of the Year due to her work with the programs such as Hope for Henry, Tracy’s Kids, Happily Hungry, Mattie’s Miracle Cart, and Casey Cares. After reading that article, I gained a greater understanding of the emotional investment in pediatrics and going into next week, I hope to begin researching the emotional investment for doctors as well as for patients so that I can appropriately understand the field of my choice.
